Ericka Hines, J.D.
Ericka is a former lawyer turned facilitator, trainer, coach, and entrepreneur. She works with individuals, socially conscious companies and nonprofit organizations that want to “step into their leadership” in order to move their missions forward. Social Change Diva is a minority, woman-owned leadership development firm run by Ericka Hines.
Ericka specializes in curriculum development, training design, and facilitation. She has extensive experience both designing and conducting leadership development trainings. She plays a variety of roles including strategist, experienced presenter, knowledgeable curriculum designer, and skilled discussion leader. Her audiences range from high school students to seasoned professionals. To date, she has trained over 1000 individuals across a variety of sectors: nonprofits, philanthropies, government agencies and small businesses.
Ericka facilitates all types of meetings and designs discussion strategies for workshops, retreats and group conversations. She works closely with her clients to create workshops and training events that incorporate both clear agendas and engaging discussion styles. Her programs are interactive, subject-focused and respectful of participants’ time.
Ericka has a Juris Doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wright State University. In her 15+ years of D.C.-based work, Ericka found that she consistently brought the same elements–observing, teaching, connecting and empowering individuals and organizations to move forward– to every position that she held.
Professional Highlights:
- Worked with leaders at the local, state, national and international levels to build their individual capacities to lead and their collective capacity to create change.
- Designed a leadership curriculum that integrated mission-based work with leadership development and social change that has been used for the last 5 years.
- Trained emerging leaders in nonprofits and government agencies.
- Facilitated strategy sessions, planning retreats, and brainstorming jams for small and large groups.
- Taught, lectured, and spoke on subjects of personal leadership, diversity and inclusion and leadership branding.

Life
- Born and raised in Dayton Ohio
- Only child to a single mother
- Resident of Washington D.C. area since 1996
- A lover of all things Diva for over 10 years. It started with hotmail and grew from there. And yes, people give me DIVA swag all the time.
Learning
- Went to boarding school for high school. (No, it’s not like “Facts of Life” and I am not “Tootie”.)
- Took a traditional approach to studying power and leadership. Got my B.A. in Political Science and a Juris Doctor (JD) in Law.
- Dedicated professional learning and personal mastery to leadership, training and development, and facilitating change.
- A student of yoga (mind and spirit) for over 10 years.
- Is passionate about learning objectives.
Leadership
- Wanted to be the first woman President of the United States at age 7; fell into leadership roles in junior high and high school (choir and academic geek). Volunteered for leadership roles in college and professional career.
- Led project teams as small as 2 and as large as 35 to produce annual gatherings for leaders in government, grassroots, legal and corporate sectors.
- Dedicated professional learning and personal mastery to leadership, training and development, and facilitating change.
- Founder of Social Change Diva, a leadership development firm that works with leaders in the public sector. Thought leader in the areas of social change leadership, leadership cultures and personal leadership.
