Social change needs leaders.  Are you ready?

 

Why invite me to speak?

Because I live and breathe your overall mission which is to create social change. It’s mine too.  Really. It is.

I have spoken to nonprofit staff, social entrepreneurs, Fellows and business owners about what it takes to deepen your impact as a social change agent. My big, hairy, audacious goal (BHAG for short) is help every person who wants to create social change become the leader that they want to be. I have seen firsthand how people who want social change can work together to create it and I know from experience that the opportunity to lead doesn’t come with a title, it comes with opportunity. And opportunities are all around.

This desire to do good has been the foundation of my career. I have spent my entire career creating social change across sector and at every level. Some career highlights include being :

  • a policy analyst identifying issues that promoted women’s economic security at the local, state and national levels.
  • a facilitator and trainer for local governments working to improve youth workforce development,
  • a lead designer of annual trainings for students and new lawyers doing social justice work.

As Principal of Social Change Diva, in addition to speaking, I work as a consultant with organizations to help them build leaders out of their social change stakeholders.  Those stakeholders have included high school, college and graduate students, lawyers, government officials, social entrepreneurs, business owners and nonprofit leaders.

My style is transformative, positive , engaging, service oriented, and audience centered

  • I share thought provoking content presented with a light touch
  • I tell revealing stories from her my own experience to let you know you wont die
    from most things (fright, flight, etc)
  • When I teach I  make it a point to connect with every person in the room

Topics that I cover

The topics that I speak about fall into four areas: Personal Leadership, Competency +Confidence, Positioning and Sustainability= Self Care.

Personal Leadership

All leadership starts with an understanding of yourself.  Looking at your strengths, your challenges and the leadership image (story) you want to project are important to shaping you as a leader.  The subjects below will help your participants start to define who they are as a leader.

Competency + Confidence

Title aside, people need to master specific skills that will help them lead a team.  The mastery of soft skills is not easy as mastering technical skills.  At its core, your  organization is made up of people. The subjects below will help your participants strengthen their soft skills to be stronger leaders.

Positioning

Moving your cause forward requires you to know how to “position” yourself and your cause favorably. If you do it well, you have greater influence and impact.  The subjects below will help you learn to use your strategic thinking skills and flex your influence to position yourself and  your cause.

Sustainability=Self Care

Is your leadership sustainable?  Leadership can be isolating, overwhelming and bad for you unless you are intentional about integrating self care into your daily life.  The topics below will help your participants calibrate our expectations of ourselves, asking for advice and sharing our leadership are essential to longevity.

Format

All of the topics above can be delivered in 3 possible formats:

Talks or Lectures

Hire me to challenge your audience to think bigger about the impact that they are having. I deliver energetic, thoughtful, action oriented talks to move people to act differently. 60-90 mins

Workshops

I give workshops that meld concepts and skills with on the job application. I present information in a way that is understandable and integrate action steps, sharing and, in most cases, some fun challenges into each of my workshops to ensure that people leave ready to change the world. (workshops are generally 75 min each)

Online webinars

I routinely do webinars. Any of the information above can be adapted for a webinar format. 1 hr
